Rules & regulations

  • Each short play should be in Marathi and be a maximum of 45 minutes long, with basic props, set, sound and lights requirements. Please be advised that this is a hard limit; we will not accept plays that run longer than 45 minutes.

  • An adequately sized stage with wings will be provided for the performances

  • The entry should be submitted by the director at bmm2022.org by filling the required information. Note that there is a one-time entry fee of $75. The final date for entry submission is April 15, 2022.

  • Once your entry is submitted you will receive an email with a unique Submission ID. To complete your entry, you will be required to provide an unlisted YouTube video link of the entire play and send a softcopy of the script as an attachment. You will send this by email to NatyaRang@bmm2022.org with the Submission ID mentioned in the subject line. The final date to submit the video and script is April 15, 2022.

  • 3-5 plays will be selected for the final competition by an independent selection committee. All decisions made by the selection committee will be final.

  • If you are selected, you will be informed by May 15, 2022, and will be expected to perform in the BMM Ekankika final competition in New Jersey from August 11-14, 2022. We will need to receive your formal acceptance to participate in this competition by June 1, 2022.

  • All decisions about the schedule and sequence of the performances will be made by the programming committee and conveyed to you once the logistics are finalized. Please be mindful that this competition may span two days during the convention.

  • If you are selected, you will need to provide a flyer and synopsis of the play in English by June 1, 2022.

  • We will need your light and sound requirements after selection. We will send a separate email regarding the required details about light and sound plans.

  • We will not be able to offer any honorarium to you for participating at this time. You are responsible for any and all expenses you incur to stage your play, including but not limited to the expenses toward renting and/or buying props, sets, recording music, playwright's honorarium etc.

  • Each group will get a total of 10 minutes of setup time before their play and 5 minutes for tear-down after the play during the competition.

  • The judges will select and award the winning plays. Awards may also be handed out in other categories.

  • All on-stage and off-stage participants are required to register for the BMM 2022 convention
