Dr. Sandeepa Utpat is a proud graduate of prestigious University of Health Sciences, Andhra Pradesh, India. After coming to USA, she pursued her residency in Internal Medicine at Bronx Lebanon Medical Center, NY and went on to do her Fellowship in Infectious Diseases, a field that she is most passionate about, at New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY. Soon after her fellowship, she served as an Attending Physician in Infectious Diseases at Metropolitan Hospital Center, NY. Dr. Utpat foresaw a great unmet need in the field of Infectious Diseases and proceeded to establish and develop a highly successful practice which continues to provide care to a vast population in Ocean County, NJ.

Dr. Utpat is a Board-Certified Physician in Infectious Diseases and is on staff at Monmouth Med Ctr, Southern Campus (MMC-SC) and Community Medical Center (CMC), Southern Region Hospitals of RWJ Barnabas Health System. In this role, she serves a wide population of patients and provides expert consultation in diagnosing and treating complex and varied infections. She is known for offering a superior care and delivering outstanding patient outcomes in an ever-changing health-care landscape.

In addition to being a hands-on clinician who enjoys the best at the bedside, Dr. Utpat is also a beloved Teaching Faculty in the Rutgers University Internal Medicine Residency Program at CMC.

Since over a decade, Dr. Utpat has been serving as the Chief of Division of Infectious Diseases and Department of Infection Prevention, Chairperson of Antibiotic Stewardship, Pharmaceutical & Therapeutic Committee and a member of the elite Medical Executive Committee and Peer-Review Committee at MMC-SC. At Community Medical Center (CMC), Dr. Utpat is also on various committees including Infection Prevention and has served on the Bylaws Committee.

If the crucible of crisis reveals a character, the CoVID-19 pandemic was the ultimate public health crisis that revealed the core traits of Dr. Utpat’s character: resilience, leadership, caring and trust. She led by example by providing patient care despite several unknown risks. By being her usual dependable self, in alignment with her true character, she continues to provide expert advice to friends, families, health care workers, community and colleagues. In addition, she continued to provide leadership in developing protocols and policies for treatment of Covid-19, infection prevention and vaccine promotion.

In order to dispel doubts, fears and chaos surrounding the CoVID-19 vaccination, Dr. Utpat volunteered to receive the 1st dose of the vaccine at her hospital which demonstrate her exemplary leadership qualities, selfless attitude and her dedication towards public service. Dr. Utpat was also featured in a special promotional video of RWJH for vaccine promotion.

Dr. Sandeepa Utpat has appeared on numerous media, radio and TV channels where she has been invited to share her expertise at the National Forums and on International Media Channels. She was recently recognized and featured as a top doctor in “NJ Top Docs Magazine” for the year 2021.

While Dr. Utpat is proud of her professional accolades and accomplishments, she is most proud of being a mother of 2 lovely daughters and tactfully balances her entrepreneurship life with home priorities. Dr. Sandeepa Utpat lives with her family in Monmouth County, New Jersey.
